Remembering Romeo

R.I.P. August 1999 to August 2011

My friend R. has said goodbye to her beloved Romeo this week. He had renal failure and R. had to make the difficult decision to help relieve him from further suffering. A most handsome cat with an expressive face ....with an attitude that was so humanlike. I will miss his visits to the blog - but he will always be on here. His first visit was on January 14, 2009 ..followed up by one of my favorite ever photos where he is drinking out of the fish bowl without bothering the fish who lived there! http://ourfurryboys.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

The first 4 photos above show him in one of his favorite places - in the yard outside his home (plenty of fresh air and insects to watch, along with a sun warmed resting place). The last shows a totally contented cat, curled up comfortably on his owners' bed, knowing he was loved and cared for.

Romeo's "come hither" eyes are beckoning us. It must be cold in Montreal....since he is snuggled right up to his mom's jacket!

Actually the real story starts a frame or two earlier. Romeo informed his mom that he wanted to have an open window to sit at. Within a few minutes of nice fresh air (Montreal cold winter air) Romeo decided he had had enough and needed to warm up. He found a nice cosy spot on a nearby printer and warmed himself up under the overhead light. My friend was able to grab her camera to get these great shots you see above. The light makes Romeo look like a much lighter colored tabby and his green eyes really stand out. The last photo is the most fascinating to me since I can see the depth and variations of the different greens in his eyes.

I am so NOT pleased!

Some very expressive photos of our friends' cat Romeo..as he heads off to the vet with his mom and dad. Not a happy cat...and you can see how he is hanging onto mom with that "please....don't let go of me" look. The first photo shows his true feelings about his visit to the vet.

Romeo comes for a "visit"

My friend just posted her latest pics of Romeo on fb...and I had to ask if Romeo could come for a visit on the blog. I am a sucker for green cat eyes (so I guess that's a hint that Angel is my favorite of the home boys!) and Romeo has those beautiful green eyes that set off his handsome tabbyness so well. And after all that hard work posing, he had to take a quick rest on the bed. I just love the way his back legs are just suspended at the end of the bed..and he looks so blissful in his resting pose!
